A week ago, I mentioned that Longhorn is now officially known as Windows Vista. Well, Indigo has also been renamed to Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) and Avalon renamed to Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF).

Here's an eWeek article discussing it.

I'm really bummed over the change from Longhorn to Vista. To me it's like going from cool to crappy. Which car would you buy? A Ford Longhorn or a Ford Vista? See my point?

The same thing with Indigo and Avalon. Why replace cool "work-in-progress" names with tacky abbreviations?

Anyway - I wrote a whole article on why I dislike the Vista name: You can take a look at it here: http://kodi.is/CS/blogs/jonas_antonsson/archive/2005/07/26/135.aspx

But to give the Marketing Department some credit I think the "Escape from Yesterworld" ploy is one of the best commercial schemes I've seen in a long while. I wrote about that one to: http://kodi.is/CS/blogs/jonas_antonsson/archive/2005/07/29/146.aspx
